8 March 2023, Wednesday – In celebration of International Women’s Day, Genesis IVF & Women Specialist Centre worked with Macalister Mansion (MM) as well as other partners to celebrate International Women’s Day by providing health screenings, health talks, and workshops.

There are continuous health screenings and consultations offered throughout the event such as complimentary glaucoma screening by Optimax Eye Specialist, self-breast examination by Penang Adventist Hospital, blood pressure and glucose checks by Georgetown Pharmacy, and complimentary fertility counseling by Genesis IVF.

The event was followed by a health talk with Genesis IVF nurse, Nurse Grace. Nurse Grace highlighted how Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) impacts fertility.

Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) is one of the most important endocrine disorders that affect females of reproductive age and can lead to serious complications, including reproductive (infertility, miscarriage, and pregnancy complications), metabolic (obesity, insulin resistance, pre-diabetes), and psychological (anxiety, depression) health aspects. Further studies are needed to determine the exact etiology of PCOS, prevention methods, and appropriate treatment.

During the Q&A session, guests are eager to learn more about the causes and treatments for PCOS.

Apart from health-related activities, Genesis IVF collaborates with Shirley, founder of S.perience. A fragrance workshop is organized by S.perience and a unique partnership with fragrance expert, A Task Lab. This workshop is a one-to-one teaching session for the guest to make their perfume.

Mr. Loh, the founder of A Task Lab, talks about the beauty and attractiveness of scents and why is perfume attractive. Four types of fragrances (woody, citrus, floral, and fruity) are prepared for the workshop and guests will work the magic by creating their scents.
